Autoliv is strengthening its commitment to safer roads worldwide through a renewed partnership with the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF), reinforcing a shared ambition to reduce road traffic fatalities and injuries through stronger road safety action.
Announced in connection with the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Road Safety in New York on July 20–21, the renewed collaboration marks the next phase of Autoliv's engagement with the UNRSF. It will build on several years of joint work to advance proven road safety measures, with focus on increasing seatbelt use, supporting effective legislation, and strengthening awareness initiatives.
Motorcycle safety will also remain an important part of the partnership, reflecting work already underway and the progress being made as rider protection gains greater attention on the international agenda.
Road crashes continue to claim more than one million lives every year globally. Yet one of the most effective life-saving technologies already exists: the seatbelt. According to Autoliv data, universal access to and use of seat belts could save approximately 124,000 lives annually, while advanced restraint systems have the potential to save even more lives.
Seatbelts remain one of the most effective technologies for saving lives on our roads. By renewing our partnership with the UN Road Safety Fund, we are strengthening our commitment to increasing seatbelt use, advancing motorcycle safety, supporting effective legislation, and working together with global partners to create safer roads for everyone.

As part of the High-Level Meeting program, Jordi Lombarte, EVP and Senior Technical Advisor, joined in several key discussions, including the UNRSF Pledging Forum, a high-level discussion on financing road safety, leadership roundtable activities, and the High-Level Meeting itself. His participation reflects Autoliv's long-standing commitment to partnering with governments, international organizations, and industry stakeholders to advance evidence-based road safety solutions.
Since joining the UNRSF partnership in 2022, Autoliv has worked alongside the United Nations and other partners to advance global road safety priorities. The collaboration has created new opportunities to engage with policymakers and road safety stakeholders while strengthening the focus on proven measures that reduce fatalities and serious injuries.
