Autoliv's ambitious climate commitment approved by SBTi

Through its Science Based Targets, Autoliv has aligned its work with the overall ambitions of the Paris Agreement.

Autoliv’s Science Based Targets

In January 2022, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) approved Autoliv’s Science Based Targets (SBTs):

  • Reduce absolute Scope 1+2 emissions by 75% from a 2018 base year
  • Reduce absolute Scope 3 upstream emissions by 15% from a 2018 base year

The Scope 1+2 target is aligned with a 1.5°C pathway, while the Scope 3 target is aligned with a 2°C pathway. Progress on the targets is reported in the Annual and Sustainability Report.

We congratulate Autoliv on setting science-based targets consistent with limiting warming to 1.5°C, the most ambitious goal of the Paris Agreement," "By setting ambitious science-based targets grounded in climate science, Autoliv is taking action to prevent the most damaging effects of climate change.
Alberto Carrillo Pineda, Managing Director, Science Based Targets at CDP

This is an important recognition, which should give our stakeholders confidence that we are serious about making our contribution to limiting global warming to 1.5°C. We will reduce our carbon emissions through use of renewable electricity in our own and supplier operations, by improving energy and materials efficiency, adopting low carbon logistics and low carbon materials, and developing attractive low carbon product offerings to support our customers in their transformation to electrified, zero emission vehicles. The implementation phase is accompanied by a training program for the top management and all employees.
