During the panel discussion “Injury Assessment and Prevention: Data from Around the World During the Airbag Era,” Shiyang Meng presented Autoliv’s work in airbag biomechanics and joined other experts to discuss injury trends, safety data and opportunities to further advance rider protection.
Biomechanics research plays an important role in understanding how injuries occur and in developing effective protection systems for motorcycle riders. Conference participants also had the opportunity to see Autoliv’s integrated airbag system for motorcycles, currently in production on the Yamaha Tricity 300. Developed through crash analysis, simulation and testing, the system is designed to deploy in frontal crashes and help reduce the risk of serious and life-threatening injuries.
