Life-time CO2 Emissions from our products
The impact our operations have on the environment is generally modest, since most of our manufacturing consists of the assembly of components. For instance, Life Cycle Assessments show that CO2 emissions from product assembly at Autoliv account for 1% of the 31.4 kg emitted during the life of an airbag.

Reduce Impact by Weight Saving
One example is our latest generation of inflators for passenger airbags that saves 400g or 40% compared with previous generations.
The new inflator uses inert gas to inflate the airbag instead of pyrotechnic substances.

Although Autoliv’s emissions are low, we have launched several energy saving programs for continuous improvement and diligently monitor such parameters as:
During 2014, the total energy consumption (including electricity and heating) by all Autoliv facilities was 792 GWh, which corresponds to 268,000 metric tons of CO2 emitted (using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol). This was an increase of 24% from 2010, which compares favorable to the sales increase of 29%, excluding currency effects, over the same period.
