Credit Ratings

Autoliv's objective is to maintain a strong investment grade rating.

The purpose of credit ratings is to rank the capability of a company to repay loans - short term and long term - at the time of the maturity of the loan.

As part of its debt management Autoliv maintains a long-term and a short-term credit rating from Standard and Poor's (S&P) and a short-term credit rating from Moody's. Autoliv received its initial long-term rating from S&P in 2000 and was then rated BBB+. Review meetings are arranged with the management annually, and regular contact is kept with the rating analysts.

Autoliv Inc ratings (each agency has it's own nomenclature)

Rating Agency  Short term Long term
Moody's P-2 n/a
S&P A-2 A-/Stable
Despite the financial turmoil and the drop in light vehicle production in late 2008 and in the beginning of 2009, Autoliv's rating remained investment grade. This was a result of the successful execution of the action plan initiated already in July of 2008. With the rating upgrade in July 2010 to BBB+, Autoliv has restored its credit ratings in-line with its objective of maintaining a strong investment grade rating.
On December 9th 2013 Autoliv’s long-term rating was upgraded to A- from BBB+.
