Quality - A Key to our Profitability
Our products never get a second chance. We must always deliver flawless products and still meet the tough price conditions in the automotive industry.
Because quality ratings determine many buyers’ choice of car models, superior quality has become increasingly important for automotive suppliers. The demand for excellence stretches from the initial development of a new product until the disposal of the product after many years of use.  To reach the superior quality required, Autoliv is committed to a “zero defect” policy supported by several key systems
Autoliv therefore
- manages all new products with a five-checkpoint process in the Autoliv Product Development System (APDS).
- utilizes a global Autoliv Supplier Manual (ASM) that defines a mandatory supplier collaboration process.
- requires our suppliers to comply with ISO/TS16949 and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). requirements.
- incorporates the principles of the Autoliv Production System (APS) into all production and support processes.   

The Autoliv Quality System ensures "zero defect" principles are practiced and applied across all functional areas of the organization.  Emphasis is placed on training employees, especially line operators.  This ensures all team members understand the critical connection between themselves and Autoliv’s life-saving products.  This awareness is highly motivating for all Autoliv employees and results in a rich flow of proposals for continuous improvements. 

As a supplement, Autoliv maintains an advanced product traceability system. Should there be a suspected problem, Autoliv is capable of tracing the issue (including components) to the vehicle level.  This allows vehicle owners to rest assured that necessary actions would be taken without delay. Guided by the Autoliv Corporate Quality Policy these systems combine to achieve superior products and result in people having high confidence in Autoliv safety systems. The satisfaction of all internal and external customers is the measure of our success.
