Autoliv supplies all major vehicle manufacturers in the world and most vehicle brands. In the development of a new vehicle model, a process that takes several years, Autoliv in many cases functions as a development partner for the car manufacturer. This typically means that Autoliv gives advice on new safety-enhancing products, assists in adaptation and conduct testing of the safety systems. Customer mix In 2007, Ford and its companies (incl. Volvo with 6%) accounted for 18% of Autoliv’s revenues (compared to 21% in 1997).
Renault /Nissan accounted for 12% and GM companies for 11%.
Volkswagen for 10% and Peugeot/Citroën 8%, Toyota and BMW for 6%.
From a risk point of view, it is important that no contract accounts for more than 5% of consolidated sales. Our largest contract accounted for 5% in 2007 and it expires in 2012. Each contract typically involves one vehicle platform and is usually valid as long as that platform is produced (approximately 4-5 years). The contracts are awarded approximately three years before vehicle production starts. |
