| Night Vision System |
| |
 |
| Autoliv's Night Vision System is an infrared radiation - i.e. heat emission - detection system that is so sensitive it enables the driver to see in total darkness without any infra-red lamps or other illumination. It even gives the driver the possibility to see in the area between two meeting cars with their head lamps on. The distance that the driver can see in front of the vehicle can be extended from less than 100 meters with dipped head beams to more than 500 meters in ideal conditions. The system also improves the driver's vision in fog. The system is calibrated to be especially sensitive to the temperature of humans and animals.
The view is projected on a display in front of the driver. |

| Autoliv's long-range IR-system enables the driver not only to see farther than with traditional "near-zone" infrared cameras, but the driver can also see the areas surrounding the road and detect animals and children running onto the road. The system has a wide-angle lens of 36 degrees, enough to cover the normal field of view of humans. The system also has a digital zoom-in/zoom-out function that is automatically controlled by the speedometer and the steering wheel.
